Hi handsome, what is your name?

This is how I feel alot of times... with the split second tantrums turned to giggles, back to a little scream, I wonder, who are you?? This is what I have done to pass the time until this stage is gone (how many years again?), I make jokes to pass the time. Would you expect anything less from me?

7:29- MOMMA MAKES ME SO HAPPY!

7:30- MOMMA REALLY MAKES ME MAD!

7:31- MOMMA I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!
OF course, the times are all in fun but literally it was within less than 10 minutes that all of those faces came into play haha! LAAAWDY!

It's still more fun than not, just alot more challenging. At the same time that I find it more challenging, it is also easy if that makes any sense at all. By "easy" I mean that he is more distractable! The tantrum can be easily resolved by the art of distraction. Start running from him and in a split second, his very upset little self turns into a screeching with laughter little tot involved in a fun game of chase. THANK GOD that I have not YET seen the minutes long tantrum that is out of control. Notice I say YET, I will never doubt the ability of the tot :).

He is definitely learning the art of expression! He has no problem giving you a squinched up bulldog lower lip face and a good ol pssshhhhhtt spitting noise to let you know that he cares not one bit for what you are trying to give him. It is very possible that his Halloween costume this year will be a Chicken Nugget costume because I swear to God that one day he will turn into one. That and fish sticks are the end result of almost every dinner at home. The normal easy dishes that were a "definite" in that we knew he would love, we now set it down quickly and walk away hoping that he will try it if we aren't looking... pssshhhhtt, that is what we hear from the background, down the food goes, and by that I do not mean down the throat. He has started to now if we take his plate so that he can't get in his one on one food throwing contest, he will take food that he is chewing out of his mouth and drop that on the floor! It makes me crazy, that is another thing that I am trying to figure out the best approach on. My brain hurts :). He is a big lover of fruit, and I love that so much. I have had it brought to my attention that the crumbs that I tear his food into can now upgrade in size. :) I had a rude awakening when we were having a play date with my sister in law and niece and nephew. With Payton being kiddo number 2, they were much more confident with giving her things that they gave Jackson, bigger sizes, just stuff that you feel better about doing that you are so fretful of when raising kiddo number one. My sister in law got the kids a pop tart to snack on and went to Brady handing him a half of one, he went to break just the corner off of his half. MELODY, HE DOESN'T KNOW TO TAKE THE WHOLE THING AND WHAT TO DO WITH IT! That is what my sis in law said, and it was so true! I was like oh my gosh what have I done!! I have just always been in the habit of cutting his sandwich into 24 cubes (juuuuust kidding), and tearing stuff up for him. Not thinking twice that as he gets older he can have bigger MELODY! Sheesh! I am now working to get better with that, but I actually have to work with him because he is so used to things being so small, that now if I hand him something bigger he will try to put the whole thing in his mouth. He is getting better though, and knows what I am saying when I tell him to bite it. Poor guy, I am ruining him at 18 months :).

He does this thing where he will walk up to you and full out laugh as if he was saying, DO YOU SEE HOW FUNNY I AM?? It's really cute, he is so entertaining!

My grocery store trips are getting quite a bit more adventurous, and to avoid being the parent receiving glares as her child screams at the top of their little lungs (how do they get all of that loud air out of that little body anyway), we usually head straight to the cracker aisle to pick up a bag of Goldfish to get us through the expedition. I know that with that and the chicken nuggets, I could be starting a regime that gets me in a lot of trouble, but heck.. sometimes it is just plain hard making the decision not to give in and everyone have to listen to him gripin', or getting something in that mouth to keep him occupied. One day I will find the right way, but I guess if giving him a snack to get him through a trip in silence and peaceful, then that isn't that bad of a bargain. I could handle doing that every trip until he is 18 and decides that his legs have been dragging too long in the front of the cart, and it is time to get down and hand momma the goldfish :). I just hate it when people have to listen to a screaming kiddo, but that is my opinion of the one million that I have :). To each their own... but my own prefers no screaming kiddo! I am pretty sure that patrons appreciate it. Maybe I will do a good deed and hand some goldfish to the next screaming tot I come across haha! On top of the short attention span of not feeling the grocery cart less the snack, he now grabs stuff in the back as if it is rejected. You never know, maybe I could save some money if I put the stuff back haha! Secret agenda of the little fella....

So far, although my efforts need to improve on teaching him, he will say nose but then that is it. I try to point as stuff as I am bathing him and fun times like that but he is like, OK MOM THAT IS NICE.. SQUIRT ME WITH THAT TOY AND LEAVE ME ALONE. **** sigh **** I really still have so much to learn.

He is copying animal noises, so far the easy fun ones for him that he loves is baaaaa, and meeeooooowww. I have started singing nursery rhymes with him during bath time. He will just stare at me and smiiiiile and watch me, studying my words and taking it in. It's really sweet, I love it. Of course he loves itsy bitsy spider and will do the "down came the rain" and say ddaaaaa (down) and the "washed the spider out" hand movements. It's really cute. He gets intrigued with Old McDonald had a farm as well, he loves watching me say E-I-E-I-OOOOOO, and will then say OOOOOOOOO. So cute. I feel like parenting is really turning into somewhat of a "keeping up with the styles" like in fashion (which yeah I am not good with that either :)). It's like every other week there is a new style, they are ready for this and that. You really have to be on your toes thinking about the next age group activities.. no more just sitting in the bouncer coo'in :). Love every minute though.

IT'S HOT, like BLOW DRYER HOT. So we did THIS.. He had a great time!
