The best 6 months of our lives...

Well here you are still keeping us wrapped in this cocoon of love and happiness that you continue to intensify every day with being here with us. You are something else my son, you just make us as happy as can be at all times. You have changed SO much and SO quickly over the last few months! We have really began to learn each other.... Everything is seeming to come together so well, and we are able to read each other better and better! This is a good thing for us, but scary because you are starting to know your way around our hearts too!

You officially became a big boy on Thursday, May 13th as you busted your first "toof" through! When your gums are hurting you, you love for me to rub my finger on them while we are waiting for the "goodies" ( good ol Oragel and teething tablets are the "goodies" :) ) to kick in... when I did that, the little tooth came through more and more!! You were just smilin' at momma!! It felt good getting that little devil through!! Then on Sunday, May 23rd, at nap time you were being a groucho :), so I thought it might be your teeth, gave you some goodies, started my rubbing with my finger, and POP, here comes the 2nd one!! Poor thing though, you have recently been finding out just how sharp those little toofies are when sticking those little sausage toes in your mouth or biting down on your thumb too, OUCH! I can't believe how fast you are changing! It's incredible actually! You are very secretive with your new set of pearlies, so no picture has been taken YET :). I will get one though, oh yes I will :)...

I can tell you are going to be quite the active and daring little guy! One night I was trying to get you to sit up on your own and you thought it was MUCH more fun to throw yourself back and then forward when I would try to help you. You would just start laughing... THANK GOD FOR PILLOWS :)... Little Stinker! You are sooo strong too!! When you took hold of my fingers and I was pulling you forward to sit up you decided, NO WAY I AM GOING ALL THE WAY, and wanted to stand up :)... Such an over achiever :)! Making me proud :)! Your sounds of enjoyment that you are VERY good at giving, are such an enjoyable sound! You are so much fun, and any second that we are not together, is a second that we are wishing we were with you! I am really hoping that the lottery fairy comes to visit.. I want to just hang with you and not work :).

This picture is the perfect example, I was trying to get you to give me a good sittin' up shot for the "6 month" pic. and there you go.. throwing yourself back :)

Right now you are finding out so many new things about what that little body of yours can do that sometimes it's baffling to you. Such as sleeping.. Oh boy that is a fun deal right now! You started rolling over a couple of months back, but you didn't take that bit of action into the crib until lately :). If you aren't asleep when I lay you down, you love to play... and with that playing comes you turning into a rollie pollie! Onto your tummy you go, and you would think that you are going to be the next Michael Phelps because your little arms and legs get going so quickly! You get tired of that very quickly, but not tired enough to fall asleep of course :0). so we to flip ya back over. And then the cycle continues.. :) Sometimes you are still very comforted with the swaddle if it goes past an hour of you trying to get to sleep.. although I laugh so hard because you will just stare at me with a little grin as I wrap you on up thinking that I am doing a good job and you won't wiggle your way out... not kidding in .2 seconds you push those little arms up like WA-LA!! It's like you let me get excited thinking that I can win, and NOPE, YOU WIN! Then we both just start laughing :).. We can't wait until you go full circle with your rolling so that you can roll back over if you don't want to be on that tummy of yours! When you do roll over when you are already asleep you usually like to sleep on your tummy, it's just falling asleep like that that you aren't diggin'! You scare us all to death though because you love to put your hands under your face when you are on your belly (so you have room to breathe) and then sleep face DOWN! Sometimes we try to sneak in when you are asleep and turn your head a bit, NOPE... you turn it right back. DRIVIN' MOMMA CRAZY BEING SCARED :)! You do make it where we can hear you breathing though so I guess I will leave you alone :).

You are really enjoying bath time and I can't wait to have you stable enough to sit in the big blow up rubber duckie one that we bought you :)!! There is nothing that will take your attention away from the "goodies" ( and this goodies is not referring to medicine ;) ) under the bubbles though. You are very fascinated with the "details" that God has put on your body... Even immediately when your diaper is changed you are ready to make sure that everything is still intact HAHAHA!

You are becoming a super star stroller rider! Your momma has decided to get off of her lazy bootie and do some walkin'! You just love it.. taking in the scenery, and then the eyelids become too heavy for you and down they go before we ever make it home :).

It's crazy reading my past blogs about you growing and the things that you already do not do anymore!! Even if I wait a few days to write something, I usually have to change it because you are already outdoing your last actions :).

You already LOVE BUBBLES!! We play "bubbles" in the kitchen sometimes when you are hanging with momma cookin' and you get sooooo excited! I love when you get excited! I can really get you pumped if I act excited, you get excited right along with me! You raise those eyebrows, give a big huge smile, and just start kickin' and moving those arms squealing with me hahaha! It's the best thing in the world!!

This past weekend you really took on to moving that head as if to say NO, NO, NO, NO... It was funny FOR NOW haha ;).. can't imagine that "no" is going to be too fun in the next couple of years.. But for now it's cute ;).

You looooooove to follow voices! It has made it quite the ordeal to get you to take that bottle in the evenings if myself or Daddy is walking around while the other is feeding :). You are always wanting to see what is going on and will fully turn your body to make sure that you do not miss a thing!

You have also seemed to have found your tongue! Your cousin Payton has always loooooved sticking that tongue out and now YOU are also really making that tongue seem like an uncontrollable snake!! HAHA! It's really funny!

Speaking of growing up quickly, you are also going outside the "bottle world" and eating some YUMMY (yeah right, I can't even get you to fall for that) cereal!! We started doing cereal the Sunday (May 16th to be exact for my future baby book references haha) we got back from a visit to the "greats"- Grammy and Grandad's! You aren't too thrilled with that but THE SWEET POTATOES, BANANAS, AND PEARS, that is a different story! You lean up to get the spoonful of goodness! You have your special little spot at the table too! Chair and all!

OUR FIRST FAMILY DINNER!

I really love having you at the table, it feels like our little family dinners that I hope we always gather for ever night!

Call me horrible, but this is the only pic. I can find of your first cereal experience :)... YUCKO, GET THIS OUTTA HERE!

I swear I do not have you in a choke hold haha... You love to reach for the spoon and try to lean up :).

TABLE FOR ONE PLEASE, TABLE FOR ONE... :) MOMMA WHEN ARE Y'ALL GOING TO COME SIT WITH ME :).

Ready for some rice cereal, NOT! If only you knew what was coming haha!

You are really learning how to express yourself outside of crying :).... When we try to feed you sometimes with a spoon, or something that you might be "over" you have learned to swat at us with your arm :). I don't think you have full control over your strength, but you have learned the timing, and the motion :). That should be fun here in a couple of months :)... Not sure when I will try throwing the N...O.. word in there.. I am sure you will be rotten before I do :). You have learned though that if we lower our voices and softly say that you are OK if maybe you are getting a little fussy, or what not.. you have learned that that is a different tone and it does catch your attention. It's funny because you have learned to turn your head when you might hear that lower and softer tone as if to "ignore" us HAHA! But you do listen well already and it is easy to get your attention and get your eyes set on something else if you get tired of something or need a change of scenery or activity to keep you entertained. You are getting very good at expressing yourself and your "demand" for entertainment! :) One day at Gigi's when I was picking you up, Gigi and I were chatting and you were laying with us playing... well any toy that you would be handed you would throw as if.. NEXT.. NOPE... NEXT.. It was funny, you definitely keep Gigi on her toes during the day keeping you entertained :)!

You have an official "big boy seat" in the truck now! I have to say that as much as I didn't like that you were already in one because it is yet ANOTHER piece of proof of how fast you are growing, I like how small you look in it compared to the infant seat that you were close to hanging out of ;)! It makes you look little bitty :), but comfy as can be! I think you like it! You can kick your legs and not be all snuggled up like in the other one with the tighter quarters. You needed that when you were a little guy, but now you are ready to take on the world... except for the sunshine... You could do without that, AND HATE when it so much as tries to sneak in the window and put it's rays on you :). Can't blame you though, momma no likie that either :)!

You are officially on the move with momma and daddy! We have started getting out more as you are an easy baby to take around most of the time. When I put " most of the time " I am referring to road trips.. although you are entertainable, it's just that, YOU ARE ONE TO REQUIRE ENTERTAINMENT! Most babies catch some Z's on the trips in the car! NOT OUR LITTLE GUY READY FOR THE WORLD TO BRING IT ON! :) I am wondering if maybe you will with this new "Lazyboy Recliner" seat but I guess we shall see... Usually one of us ends up riding with you in the back with our "bag of tricks" :). You went to your first out of town softball tournament with us to College Station on May 1st and were SUCH a champ! Man it was hot! Although lots of fans and shade kept you cool! You did great, and everyone loved seeing you as of course some hadn't seen you yet, and others saw you when you were brand spankin' new!

Momma got yet another year older this year! As well, as I had my FIRST MOMMA'S DAY with you! You really spoiled me and got me lots of fun things that I wanted :)! You got me a rug for the living room, and another rug for the door (I have been wanting one that I really loved for so long!)! You also got me a gift card so I could go get some fun bling bling!! :) We have focused all funds on you and giving you the best of "our" best :), that meant that momma's jewelry buying habits went out the window! I secretly think you got it so I could buy you some new "teethers" as that is what all of my necklaces have turned into :). You also got me a MASSAGE! You are a big boy, and I love the bigness of my sweet baby, BUT... you looooooove to be held and rocked MOST of the times (there are times that you are like PUT ME DOWN :)) and momma's arms and back need a good massagin'! Such a good Bday and first momma's day with you! You even napped like a champ on Momma's Day :)! Such a sweet baby!

Before I close this up, I wanted to say that somewhere out of the wood works you have gotten a "shyness" to you! You even do it to mommy, daddy, or Gigi if we come up to you and the other is holding you sometimes :). It's sooooo cute :)! You are also realizing when you don't know someone well, and sometimes you get that pouty little lip when they start talking to you! YIKES! That means we need to start getting you out more in my books!!

Well, I will close this, as it is INFINITY LONG! I am sure your eyes are burning by now with reading my marathon of a letter.. Our cup overfloweth with our love for you my sweet baby boy. There are many things that we have yet to endure that we can not wait for... Your dad wants to throw a ball with you so bad I am surprised that he hasn't tried by now :). He was already talking about baseball registration and the different ways that when your birthday falls would affect registration birthday deadlines hahaha! Man, I hope you like baseball for his sake :)! If not that is ok too, I just thought it was funny!

You love your Daddy! I am so glad that y'all have such a great closeness..

I can't wait to see what your interests are and where you take us with your yearning of things you would like to do! I can wait at the same time though! I take extra time to make sure that even if I am up late with you comforting you to sleep that I ENJOY those times, no matter what.. how tired I might be... how challenging it might be to find what makes you happy at that time.... It has never once aggravated me, at myself for taking longer than I would like for the idea to pop in my head of what to try next, maybe, but I love holding you and loving on you.. I really do so much and I know that those times fly by. I hope you are as snugly as you get older, and I get to snuggle with you.. Even when you are 40, if you want to sit on momma's lap, I don't care who laughs at us :). You are the love of our lives, and we love every experience that you have given us, every memory thus far, and even the love that you show us in your little ways. You are a blessing to all that come across you as you hand out smiles like they will never run out (which I hope they don't :) ). Our life could never be the wonderful one that it is without you. You make us want to work harder than we ever have (although I don't take back my lottery fairy wish because momma could be lazy too if that happened :) ) so that you have everything that you want, in a thankful way of course :)! It really does baffle me how the stresses of my day with many different avenues of life, can be wiped away like they were never there when I see you. There is nothing like walking into Gigi's, you seeing me, and lighting up the world for me with that huge smile. I never knew it to be possible to really love more and more every day... You have made me want to be a better person, show more love to the world, and make my heart as loving as I can so that you are surrounded with nothing but love. Love you to the moon and back son, love that saying and I hope it embeds within our relationship, except for I will always sat it but end it with INFINITY. Happy half year birthday beautiful baby boy, we love you immensely!

  1. What a cute boy!! Stratton is still strapped in the baby seat with his poor skinny legs hanging out the bottom... I'll have to tell him that Brady is already "one-up"ing him.
Much love! We need a playdate.
